About Us

The El Dorado Peace Community was established in the late 1970s and first began as part of an effort to pass a Nuclear Freeze Initiative in California. From its beginning through the mid 90s, we organized around issues of war and peace, and the struggles for self-determination of the peoples of Central America. In 1996, we established the Peace & Justice Concert Series that produced over a dozen politically oriented concerts between 1996 and 2000. In early 2002, we began organizing to prevent the threatened war in Iraq, and established ourselves as a non-profit (503c).

We have a 5-person Board of Directors consisting of:

  • Gale Hesselgesser
  • Jim Martin
  • Carla Turoff
  • Maureen Dion-Perry
  • Dominique Hoppe

Our focus is on working and organizing locally for a more just and peaceful world. We are always looking for people who want to join us in our effort and for ideas and suggestions to increase our capacity and effectiveness,
so please consider getting involved in our efforts.
